Reanaud Garcia-Fons - Solo

All sounds you will hear on this CD were generated by Renaud García-Fons on the double bass. Some titles are strict solo bass, some have added loops, pre-recorded electronics and percussive sounds made by finger tapping or slapping. The thematic material oscillates between Orient and Occident, Africa and Latin America and between medieval and modern music. García-Fons lives his dream to present the bass as an instrument with an all-encompassing voca-tion, an instrument of beauty and many-sided possibilities which should be brought to an audible and visible level. The priory of Marcevol situated high up in the French Pyrenees proved to be the perfect spot for such an endeavour. Well balanced acoustics and an inspiring spirituality presented an invitation to take an “imaginary journey through time and space” which touches the Orient (Jey-hounabad), the middle ages (Marcevol), Africa (Kalimbass),South America (Yupanqui) and the baroque period (Hacía Compostela)… “My first encounter with the double bass was at age 16, it was love on first sight. I thought immedi-ately that the bass would offer an approach not just to classical music and jazz but to the universal language of music. After five years of intense learning with Jean-Piere Logerot and the great Francois Rabbath I began to travel, to explore and to investigate other musical cultures building up my own technique out of the experiences I made. I added a high fifth string to perfect the range of the bass without risking the authentic sound.“ Renaud García-Fons has made a spectacular career in the last years. Exposure in his native France was soon followed by concerts tours through Germany, Italy, Turkey, the UK – more or less all over Europe. North America came next where he does his 5th tour this year including again the Montreal Festival in Canada. Just before the US he will play at the four leading Australian fes-tivals and possibly in China. The accompanying DVD is a state-of-the-art production filmed with 5 HD cameras directed by seasoned pro Nicolas Dattilesi. It shows the full concert at Marcevol and an interview with García-Fons in french subtitled in English, Spanish and German and a short bonus film.

Al Di Meola - Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody

The NY Times and Guitar Player lead the first round of publications praising Al Di Meola’s ‘Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody’ (now available on Telarc Records). Di Meola says the album marks a fresh new era for his World Sinfonia band as the "compositions and interplay take on a more complex and interesting direction then anything I've done before."

And press agree: "The maestro is back and he is killing! Al D throws down beautiful nylon-string parts and blazing electric lines on this tango-riffic collection. The playing is spectacular throughout but tones, particularly on 'Paramour's Lullaby' and 'Full Frontal' are so cool they almost steal the show. Bravo!" – Guitar Player

"Di Meola, a guitarist of dazzling technical prowess, has a new album, 'Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody,' whose title neatly sums up his mission as an artist. World Sinfonia is the acoustic global-fusion outfit featured on the album, which riffs on a range of stylish sources, from tango to gypsy swing." – NY Times

Christian McBride - Conversations With Christian

On his eight CDs that precede Conversations With Christian, bassist Christian McBride has framed himself in ensemble contexts, most recently on the widely lauded 2009 Mack Avenue release Kind of Brown, which showcases the Inside Straight quintet (his return to the acoustic jazz format as a leader) and The Good Feeling, released in September, comprising a suite of well-wrought charts for an A-list 17-piece big band. Although McBride’s leader and sideman c.v. includes no small number of pungent duos with various game-changers—to name two, McCoy Tyner and Jim Hall—he has heretofore refrained from devoting an entire recording to the genre. That discographical gap is now rectified with Conversations with Christian, on which the 39-year-old maestro places himself in the forefront of the flow on a duet apiece with “13 of my closest musical friends and cohorts”—singers Angélique Kidjo, Sting and Dee Dee Bridgewater; pianists George Duke, Eddie Palmieri and Chick Corea, as well as Dr. Billy Taylor and Hank Jones (who both passed away in 2010); violinist Regina Carter; trumpeter Roy Hargrove; guitarist Russell Malone; tenor saxophonist Ron Blake; and actress Gina Gershon. In the process, McBride unleashes the full measure of his already legendary skills, crafting as complete a portrait of his diverse interests—different vibrations of the blues and African-American church experience, bebop, the American Songbook, the Latin Tinge, the Freedom Principle, even comedy—as he has ever presented.

“I love and appreciate so many different styles and cultures,” he remarks. “Changing hats, going from one project to another, from a straight-ahead session to an R&B session to a pop session, has always fueled my activity. I try to put all those different sounds into one pot and make it a coherent, jazz-inflected sound.” McBride first considered a proposal to do a duet project during the latter ‘90s, when he was signed to Verve. “At the time,” he recalls, “I didn’t feel I was ready, or that it was the project I wanted to do. I had other things in mind. But as time progressed, I got to do other projects—putting together the Christian McBride Band and experimenting with a lot of different sounds and layers—and my focus returned to the duets idea.”

This renewed interest coincided with McBride’s involvement with the National Jazz Museum In Harlem (he is co-director), where he launched a still ongoing series of public talks and interviews. “My manager, Andre Guess, and my wife, Melissa Walker, noticed that I had a good rapport with almost everyone I interviewed,” recalls McBride, whose warmth comes through as palpably in conversation as in notes and tones. “They both suggested that it might be time.” In conjunction with the project, McBride conducted videotaped interviews with each participant. Available as discrete podcasts since 2009, this series eventually led to the popular Sirius-XM radio show, The Lowdown: Conversations With Christian. “I think the duet is a logical extension of the nature of the bass itself,” McBride says. “It’s the root. Joe Zawinul once stated that the drums are the father of all music, and the bass is the mother. I had a hard time disagreeing. The bass has the rhythm and the pulse, and also the notes and harmonies. That would seem to make it the ideal instrument for any sort of duet.” If the bass is the ideal instrument to perform the duo function, McBride would seem to be its ideal practitioner. He immersed himself in the genre directly after arriving in New York City from Philadelphia, his hometown, in 1989. Then 17, just out of high school, he entered the rarefied atmosphere of such New York piano saloons as Bradley’s, the Knickerbocker and the Village Gate, learning the tools of the trade on drummer-less gigs with such elder masters as Larry Willis, John Hicks and George Cables. “Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, and Oscar Pettiford were my main favorite bass soloists, plus Jaco Pastorius on the electric side,” McBride says. “Their articulation was so clean and so sharp, and you wondered why all bass players didn’t play with that clarity. It seemed to me that musicians across the board were learning the language of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane and more modern geniuses like Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner and Joe Henderson, and that as a bassist I should also learn that language. With the exception of a few people, most bass solos I heard seemed a little uncertain and ambiguous, and I didn’t buy that the reason was the instrument’s frequency. I wanted every single, solitary note I was playing on the bass to be as crystal clear, as articulate and precise, as any other instrument, while still keeping the full tone.” Such formative experiences, as well as extended tours with “arena” acts like Pat Metheny, Chick Corea and Sting, many years playing with the drummer-less three-bass unit Super Bass with Ray Brown and John Clayton, and consequential engagements with pop icons like James Brown, Queen Latifah and The Roots, gave McBride the confidence to eschew the original material that he “had ready for almost all of the duets.” He realized that, “since everything is exposed in a duet, my partner should be as comfortable as humanly possible, whether it meant doing a song of theirs or some mutually-agreed upon standard. I knew that I could feel comfortable with just about anything.” McBride transcends the challenge, crafting one eyebrow-raising solo after another, and conjuring a lexicon of apropos, state-of-the-art bass-lines. On Kidjo’s anthemic “Afirika,” which opens the proceedings, he adapts the band arrangement into a surging, metrically complex bass part, rendered with the huge sound that is his trademark, complementing to perfection the Beninoise diva’s over-the-barline phrasing. Later, with Sting on the 1985 hit “Consider Me Gone” from the film Bring on the Night, he sets up a gentle 4/4 vamp to blanket and complement the singer’s keening tenor and self-comping guitar; still later, he signifies with good-humored, “filthy” expertise to Dee Dee Bridgewater’s lusty interpretation of “It’s Your Thing” by the Isley Brothers. Observe the intense, contemplative mood that McBride’s arco introduction sets for “Spiritual,” a late-in-life composition by Dr. Billy Taylor; his comfort zone swinging through the changes on songbook standards “Alone Together” (Hank Jones) and “Baubles, Bangles and Beads” (Roy Hargrove); the soulfulness he imparts to his own “Sister Rosa” (Russell Malone) and up-tempo “McDukey Blues” (George Duke). He surefootedly explores the open spaces with Chick Corea on “Tango Improvisation,” a spur-of-the-moment creation, and finds a path into Eddie Palmieri’s singularly Afro-Caribbean universe on “Guajeo Y Tumbao.” On “Fat Bach and Greens,” he and Regina Carter morph seamlessly from a well-wrought reading of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Double Violin Concerto into extemporaneous highbrow back-and-forth on the blues, while on “Shake ‘n Blake” he engages in informed variations on rhythm changes with tenor saxophonist Ron Blake, his long-time partner. The operative principle throughout is McBride’s dictum, “Most of what I enjoy doing s based in, around, and upon the groove; I want to hold down the fort—but have the ability to visit the roof if I want.” Conversations With Christian will assume its place as a masterpiece of the duo idiom.

Bollani - Chailly : Sound Of The 30'

Di Moses und Aron o di "Over the rainbow"?

Marilena Paradisi - Come Dirti

The choice of the title 'How to tell you' conveys an urgency of expression whereby reflections and states of mind find an outlet in total improvisation of the text harmonising with the (articulated and) never taken for granted melodic texture. Recorded in a single extemporaneous and inspired work session, the project this time involves the collaboration of Italian pianist Stefania Tallini, giving rise to 16 tracks of total improvisation,16 songs in Italian, each with its own expressive and poetic impact, the rapport between the two artists verging on almost total empathy.

Inger Marie - For You

Inger Marie first worked with the Swedish guitarist Ulf Wakenius on BY MYSELF from 2006. The collaboration was inspiring for both of them and led to many concerts all over the world. Inger Marie’s next release, MY HEART WOULD HAVE A REASON, was produced by another great Swedish guitarist, Georg Wadenius. But on her new album, FOR YOU, Ulf and Inger Marie join forces once again. This time with a Scandinavian dream team featuring another Swede, Lars Jansson, on piano, and two Danes, bassist Jesper Bodilsen and drummer Morten Lund – as well as the wonderful trumpeting of Norwegian Per Willy Aaserud on several tracks. Inger Marie and her band of outstanding musicians make this album an aesthetic delight. Inger Marie lives in Arendal in southern Norway, where the houses sprawl over the mountainside down to the bay. This atmosphere and these surroundings inspire the vocalist’s heartfelt interpretations in a selection of well-known and lesser-known, carefully chosen songs. This album includes a version of the perhaps most successful song ever from a Norwegian pop group, AHA’s “Take On Me”. However, if you don’t happen to know the lyrics, you may not recognize it, because Inger Marie makes every song her own. Her style is relaxed, and her phrasing is carved in stone. She has her own sound, and she compiles her repertoire with a broader scope than the traditional American Songbook. In her native Norway, Inger Marie is a well-kept secret, and the road to her large audience in the rest of the world was paved by mouth to ear. No single hit, spectacular video, flashy outfit or strange behavior has made her art famous. Her weapon is a voice so unmistakably Inger Marie, that it will tattoo itself indelibly into your awareness the first time you hear it. Her unstressed approach fascinates. Every song declares its love of life. We recognize the melancholy mood, the emotions. This is the essence of music. In May 2011, in Lars Nilsson’s Nilento Studio outside Gothenburg, Inger Marie and her five Scandinavian musicians met with producer Rasmus Solem and created magical moments. Now the rest of us can share the experience. Inger Marie doesn’t seek flashy musicality, she seeks depth, and she finds it in this quintet of musicians, who despite their virtuosic qualities never play a superfluous note. Their splendid musicianship allows room for reflection. This is the sound of the mountains of Arendal!

Antonella Montrasio - Max De Aloe Q.tet : Pingo Pingando

Antonella Montrasio is one of the most brilliant interpreters of brasilian music in Italy. She’s gifted with a warm timbre, a great sense of rhythm, a deep knowledge and passion towards brasilian popular music, particurarly “bossa nova” , and a total mastery of brasilian idiom . “Pingo pingando” suggests , with the support of Max De Aloe quartet, a choice of songs entirely taken from the repertoire of the great composer Antonio Carlos Jobim, called Tom. Antonella Montrasio is the actor daughter of an actor father, Raf Montrasio, who played guitar and mandolin in Renato Carosone’s band, and represents one of the Italian musicians known all over the world. Max De Aloe needs no introduction : he’s considered one of the most esteemed harmonica- players on an international scale. He was placed second within the whole instrumentalist class of the year at the recent (2011) “ top referendum jazz”, the top italian review within jazz music and was voted by a jury of 60 italian journalists. His quartet can boast exellent musicians including the pianist Roberto Olzer, pointed out among the best new talents within Italian jazz music at the same “top referendum jazz”. In other words, a high profiled Italian proposal honouring brasilian jazz and music.

Aldo Romano, Louis Sclavis, Henri Texier - 3+3

Aldo Romano - drums, percussion / Louis Sclavis - saxophone, clarinet / Henri Texier - bass + Enrico Rava - trumpet (1,2,7,10) / Nguyen Le - guitar (1,3,7,10) / Bojan Z - piano (1,5,10)

Short Stories For Dreamers

Tingvall Trio - Vagen

"Vägen" (The Way) retraces the trio's imprssions on the way taken over the last few years. "Sevilla", the opening track took birth on the extended tour of Spain in 2010 and "Shejk Schröder" (Schröder the Sheik) could easily provide the backdrop for a camel race. The title tune "Vägen" is one of those compositions, where you literally hear the stardust swirl, offering space for reflection and lookinginward at what was, what is and what jsut might come to pass. As the previous ECHO JAZZ AWARD winning album "Vattensaga" the album was once again recorded at the highly acclaimed Italian Arte Suono studio of Stefano Amerio. On "Efter Livet" (After Life) Martin Tingvall has also gingerly supllemented the "triophonics" with additional instrumentation by arranging string and horns like splashes of color

Felice Clemente - Doppia Traccia // Nuvole Di Carta

Nuvole di Carta is my heartfelt tribute to a beloved friend who left us three years ago, at a very young age. A young man very rich in spirit, with many projects he wanted to realize. This latest work of mine is dedicated to him and to his dreams; the title, Nuvole di Carta, alludes in fact to the fusion between dreams (the clouds) and their realization (paper), as if, someway, with my notes I wanted to give a shape to his open eyed dreams.
Clouds then acquire the shape of our dreams, which, as our life and our experiences go by, change, sketching outlines that are always different and more complex, sometimes even simpler, but in everlasting movement. Alas, his clouds have stopped still, crystallizing in an eternal present, becoming made of paper. The journey through this cd's tracks would like to melt this painful fixity entrusting that magic of music, which is able, from time to time, to turn even the last drop of the hourglass into honey. I have worked very hard on the choices of timber and rhythm, on the shape of the tracks, trying to deconstruct the themes so to give more space to the creative improvisation of the musicians, without renouncing that melodic element that I consider an indispensable part of my stylistic hallmark. The result is an aesthetic experience, always changing, in continuous metamorphosis, rich with continuous surprises even for us musicians, who have tried to leave the singing to instinct, heart, emotions, anything that can shape dreams and make them come true. The dreams of us, of our friend, and, I hope, of everyone who will listen to us.

DOPPIA TRACCIA

The music contained on this disc is written, either for the duo compositions either for piano. In discussion is for aid in the study of classical music to jazz address, which must be interpreted with "swing" and with some notion of improvisation, in fact a good jazz practice is necessary. Some compositions have a polyphonic language and needs a good listen of classical music, particularly the Baroque repertoire. It is music for classical or jazz musicians, first of these to give an interpretation, for the other ones to explore and develop creative compositions while keeping firmly to its original score.

The " 9 notturni " (op. 581) are compositions for alto saxophone and piano inspired by the famous collection of Frédéric Chopin, among the greatest piano composers of the Romanticism, marvelous piano player and an excellent harmonizer, absolutely one of the most influent classical musician in the modern context.
For the easy singability, the romantic expressivity combined with simplicity, the harmonization to the border between romance and jazz (thinking of Bill Evans) are essential components of the collection. The " 9 Notturni" can also be performed by piano only keeping the same score.

The "duo Fantasia" (Op. 624) for piano and soprano sax is a track more complex in form, rhythm and interaction between written and improvisated parts, in which it develops improvisation while maintaining a strict classical evolution.

The "15 immagini" (op.480) for solo piano are easy samples in which are discussed different musical styles: jazz, latin, choral, folk song, blues.

The two compositions at the end of this disc, "L'insaziabile tono" and "La linea di spago", are made following jazz techniques, even if contaminated with developments related to classical culture: at the thematic exposure follows improvisation on the same structure. The same thematic element is also the final restatement.

Resonance Records : Dado Moroni - Freddie Hubbard

Dado Moroni - Live In Beverly Hills
( Cd e Dvd Blue Ray )

CD + DVD – Blue-ray

Moroni was born and raised in Genoa, Italy, and took to jazz early. "My parents bought a piano for my sister, but she didn't show a lot of interest in it. When I came along, I was immediately taken with it from the age of three. My father was always playing jazz records in the house - people like Earl Hines, Fats Waller and Count Basie. I fell in love with those records, and started trying to imitate them on the piano. My mother, who played accordion, saw how interested I was in the instrument, and put me on her lap to explain the difference between major and minor chords. And that was the beginning!"

Originally self-taught, Moroni would heed the advice of a family friend and study piano formally, eventually gigging with local Italian, as well visiting American musicians. Unsure he'd be able to mount a successful career in music, Moroni actually enrolled in law school. But a chance encounter accompanying famed bebop trumpet pioneer Dizzy Gillespie would forever alter Moroni's musical path, with the elder jazz statesman telling him, 'Man, there are too many lawyers out there. You should play piano!' "That was the turning point," Moroni says. "I decided right there that I could make a living doing what I loved to do. So I took him seriously, and quit law school!"

Moroni's love for the jazz language is evident across all seven tracks of Live in Beverly Hills. The album opens with Moroni's fierce left-hand anchoring a sea of buoyant band interplay on his own "Ghanian Village," complete with Kenny Barron-esque piano proddings that recall the elder pianist's rhythmic renegade. "If I'm playing a song and I hear a sound that makes me think of someone like Kenny Barron, who I love and is one of my dearest friends, I say hello to him in the music," Moroni says. Other infectious album cuts include a metrically-modulating romp through famed Modern Jazz Quartet pianist John Lewis' "Django," as well as a Bossa Nova-infused take on "Where Is Love?" from the musical Oliver!

Freddie Hubbard
Pinnacle - Live & Unrealeased From Keystone Korner

Considered by many to be among the top echelon of jazz trumpeters, Freddie Hubbard is at a career peak during these live performances, recorded with two different groups during several 1980 sets at the Keystone Korner in San Francisco. The core group includes pianist Billy Childs and bassist Larry Klein, with either Eddie Marshall or Sinclair Lott on drums. Hubbard's take-no-prisoners attitude is apparent in a power-packed performance of his "The Intrepid Fox" (adding trombonist Phil Ranelin and tenor saxophonist David Schnitter), though the spotlight is on the leader, aside from a brief feature for Lott. Childs switches to Fender Rhodes for Hubbard's driving bossa nova "First Light," while "Happiness Is Now" is a funky affair. Hubbard was underrated as a ballad interpreter, though his poignant take of Michel Legrand's "The Summer Knows" (from the film Summer of '42) is a brilliant showcase for him on flügelhorn. One of the great thrills is Hubbard's first known recording of "Giant Steps," with the leader tackling it with his sextet at a fast tempo, showcasing tenor saxophonist Hadley Caliman and Childs, as well. This well-packaged, previously unissued music from producer Todd Barkan's (the owner of the long defunct club) personal archives, includes detailed liner notes by several contributors and lots of period photographs. Red Records : Vito Di Modugno - Pablo Bobrowicky - Edward Simon

Vito Di Modugno - East Side

Pablo Bobrowicky - Southern Blue

Accanto a Pepi Teveira («Pepi is my musical brother») uno dei più quotati e richiesti contrabbassisti d’area newyorkese: Ben Street.

Vale quanto Horace Parlan diceva di Grant Green: «[He has] the natural ability to know when not to play».

Argentina, Brasile, Uruguay, Cuba.

The process by which Simon became an internationally regarded jazz musician began in the small coastal town of Cardón, Venezuela, where he grew up surrounded by the sounds of Latin and Caribbean music. Born in 1969, Simon credits his father, Hadsy, for developing his passion for music and supporting him and his two brothers, Marlon and Michael, to become professional musicians.

He attended the Philadelphia Performing Arts School, graduating at 15, then received a music scholarship from the University of the Arts where he studied classical music with concert pianist Susan Starr. Later he transferred to the Manhattan School of Music where he studied jazz piano with Harold Danko.

Upon arriving on the New York jazz scene in 1989, his reputation as a pensive, rhythmically astute, versatile player caught the ear of noted musicians Greg Osby, Jerry Gonzalez, Bobby Hutcherson, Herbie Mann, Kevin Eubanks and Paquito D’Rivera, all of who would later employ him. In 1989 Simon took the piano chair in Bobby Watson’s influential group Horizon (1989-94), later moving to the Terence Blanchard Group (1994-2002).

Simon made his first recording as a leader in 1994 (Beauty Within, Audioquest), giving birth to the Edward Simon Trio–- the same year he took third place in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. Since then he has founded, established and served as musical director of several jazz ensembles such as: the Edward Simon Quartet, Ensemble Venezuela and Afinidad. Today, the Edward Simon Trio has become an established voice with five recordings and recent performances at such well-known jazz venues as the Village Vanguard, Jazz Bakery and Casa del Jazz.

Fueled by a strong desire to break boundaries through improvised music, in 2000 Simon co-founded the quartet Afinidad with saxophonist/composer David Binney, which includes bassist Scott Colley and drummer Antonio Sanchez. Afinidad's mission is to create and perform eclectic contemporary American music with a focus on jazz, reflecting a wide range of musical influences such as Pop, Brazilian, Latin American and contemporary classical music. With this ensemble he produced two critically acclaimed recordings: Afinidad (Red Records, 2001) and Oceanos (Criss Cross, 2007). In 2008, Chamber Music America awarded Simon a New Works: Creation and Presentation Program grant (2008-09) to compose and present Sorrows and Triumphs, a work for Afinidad and special guest artists guitarist Adam Rogers, vocalist Gretchen Parlato and percussionist Rogerio Boccato.

At the same time, Simon has become increasingly interested in the folk music of his native land. In 2003 he founded Ensemble Venezuela, an outlet for exploring the marriage between jazz and Venezuelan music through new works and arrangements of works by Venezuelan masters. Two years later he was awarded a second grant from Chamber Music America to compose and perform the Venezuelan Suite, a work that crosses the barriers between jazz, chamber music and Venezuelan folk music. Considered by some to be his most important work to date, the Venezuelan Suite inspired the creation of a series of abstract paintings by artist Ellen Priest: "Jazz Paintings on Paper: Improvisations on the Venezuela Suite."

Simon has received Fellowships in Music Composition from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (2005), the State of Florida (2007) and the New York Foundation for the Arts (2008).

He has served as faculty at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, the City College of New York and the University of the Arts. He has taught master classes and clinics at music conservatories and universities around the world and continues to teach piano and improvisation at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He has been honored on two different occasions (1999, 2004) for this work with a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service to Jazz Education from the International Association for Jazz Education. In 2008 Simon had the rare opportunity to share his knowledge and experience with fellow Venezuelans. Thanks to a grant from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and The U.S. Department of State, he was a visiting professor at the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales in Caracas, Venezuela.

Simon has recorded 10 critically acclaimed albums as leader, including two New York Times Top Ten Jazz Records of the Year: Edward Simon (1995) and Simplicitas (2005). He has appeared as guest artist on more than 50 recordings, including Paquito D'Rivera's Grammy Award winning Funk Tango (Best Latin Jazz Album, 2007) and several Grammy Award nominated albums.

His performing career spans 20 years of international touring as pianist with prominent artists and ensembles. His recent collaborations include Don Byron, Miguel Zenon, Luciana Souza, Paquito D’Rivera and John Patitucci.

In 2010 Simon was named Guggenheim Fellow by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. He is currently a member of the San Francisco Jazz Collective, a prominent musician/composer jazz ensemble dedicated to creating new work and highlighting the music of historically significant jazz composers of the modern era. The Collective is comprised of “eight of the most in-demand” (New York Times) artists performing today.

A draft cultural breath in step with the times that blends and mixes inspirations that belong to the contemporary world characterized by globalization . It is thus an exciting job, played with absolute mastery and that is remarkable for freshness and modernity. The repertoire of "No Project" ranging from Radiohead to Komeda, from McCartney to Leonard Cohen, from Stevie Wonder to Shorter also includes two new songs. Riggio Ensamble With Tom Harrell - Audrey

The CD “Audrey” features the compositions of Claudio Riggio, supported by excellent musicians who in turn give rise to different ensembles (duo, trio, quartet, ...) and Tom Harrell who once again descends into a Italian weblog Abeat recording project of great scope.A disc which is linked to a series of tracks in the form of cameos lasting a few minutes, sometimes seconds. A dimension almost timeless and "impressionist"in which Tom Harrell said to feel comfortable as rarely happens. The result is an unusual expressive intensity. The songs develop as "images" that take shape almost painterly brushstrokes of copyright and in which the palette of "sounds" is changing every time like in a kaleidoscope of "colors". An album of immense class and elegance in which the compositions resonate without hesitation even a typical Italian, stirring lyricism of Opera, classical music, the band tradition of the country... A superb CD and also a shining example of european art which is accompanied by international artists of absolute value.

Tom Harrell : trumpet, flugelhorn

Daniele  Santimone - Ares Tavolazzi- Riccardo Paio
 A Little Bartòk

Some of the most acclaimed jazz musicians of the Italian scene they create a recording project that revisits some of the melodies from the opera Mikrokosmos, the famous cycle of piano pieces composed by Bela Bartok. The intent is to bring out the lyricism of these short compositions rich in references to popular music of many peoples of Eastern European and Middle East and put them in a context very close to the harmonic and rhythmic atmosphere of modal jazz. A 'transaction of great value also because this reading is set up as a rarity in the contemporary jazz. The presence of musicians of great value and intensity of expression of the soloists give the album a touch of class and elegance that make the listening experience interesting from both an emotionally and intellectually.

Mu - Sensilenti
